Diamond Bee Brooch
About the Item
A diamond bee brooch, in the form of a bumble bee in flight, the delicately veined wings, domed body and thorax and outstretched legs encrusted with graduated old brilliant-cut diamonds, weighing a total of 9.45 carat, with ruby cabochon eyes, all silver set to a yellow gold mount, hallmarked 18ct gold and silver, London 2019, made by Bentley & Skinner, measuring 5.6x3.8cm, gross weight 19.8 grams.

This stunning diamond set bee brooch was made by Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. This wonderfully crafted piece draws stylistic inspiration from the Victorian era when insect jewellery became a popular novelty. This spectacular bee is realistically rendered and set throughout with a combined weight of just under nine and a half carats of glittering old-cut diamonds. The eyes of the bee are set with cabochon rubies, another detail that references Victorian era craftsmanship. This gorgeous, glittering brooch would be a spectacular addition to a smart summer outfit.
