About the Item
A gold and opal galleon made by Bentley & Skinner, the galleon in full sail consisting of hull set with boulder opal weighing 21.53 carats and fine gold sails and ropes, with stylised waves at the bottom, all mounted in yellow gold, hallmarked 18ct gold London 2020, made by Bentley & Skinner, measuring approximately 4.5 x 5.5cm, gross weight 32.1 grams.
This magnificent statement brooch was made by Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. The gold is crafted into the shape of a galleon, a Renaissance period ship. Extremely detailed and wonderfully crafted, the ship’s hull is set with a magnificently colourful opal. The opal’s deep blues, greens and pinks are fiery and bright, providing a wonderful contrast to the bright yellow gold of the galleon. A unique statement brooch that can be worn in many ways.
