Exceptional Napoleon III Neoclassical French jet (black glass) mourning brooch - the shell symbolizing eternal life - elegant design - matte finish - early original hand made 'c' catch and tube hinge and long pin in base metal - unsigned - France - mid 19th century.
Excellent antique condition - all original - no loss - no damage - no restoration - minor scuffs and scratches - tarnish to the metal fittings and pin - signs of age and use - ready to wear.
Size/Dimensions - Medium - 1 1/4" (3.2 cm.) Wide x 1 1/4" (3.2 cm.) High x 1/2" (1.3 cm.) Deep. Pin extends 1/4" (5.0 mm.) at base of brooch.
