Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Unique "Etruscan Spiral Extension Dining Table", 1960s
By Philip and Kelvin LaVerne
Located in New York, NY
One-of-a-kind "Etruscan Spiral Extension Dining Table" with extensions the fit on each end in patinated bronze and pewter with hand-painted polychrome enamels and unique pierced bronze bases by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on side of tabletop with original paper labels on leaves). This table was made specially for Fred and Edith Horowitz, personal friends of the LaVernes. Their initials are incorporated into the bases as part of the design; “EH” on one base and “FH” on the other base. There are rods that come out from inside the table to support the leaves; they lock in place to give the leaves solid support. This table is exceptional in every way and represents the best of the LaVernes’ art and ingenuity. The abstract graphic design on the table top is simply stunning with beautiful coloration. The pattern is continuous from the table top onto the leaves. There is a felt lined wood case which the LaVernes made for the leaves. With the leaves, this table is 112 inches long. Reference: Sculpture II The Art of Philip LaVerne catalog published in the 1970’s, there is a photo on page 15 which shows a smaller model with the title “Page 15 - Estruscan Dining Table”. In the back of the catalog is the description, “Intricacy of interwoven bronze and pewter, hand sculptured to form the arabesques of this subject, combine in a supremely elegant motif. The feeling of an ancient Etruscan coin...

Lionel Jadot and Zaventem Ateliers, Spin Love, BE
By Lionel Jadot
Located in New York, NY
Bringing together 15 of Europe’s most exceptional artisans working across the design spectrum, Jadot has spearheaded the creation of an extraordinary mixed-media, multi-functional object in the form of an unique ping pong table, titled “Spin Love.” In addition to its recreational use, "Spin Love" can be divided with each table top elevated to serve as a double-sided room divider or screen, with a matching pair of standing floor lamps. One of the most ambitious works of decorative arts today, “Spin Love” connects the talents of the idiosyncratic, visionary artists that make up Zaventem Ateliers. Jadot is the mastermind behind Zaventem, an experimental artist workspace accommodating 32 separate workshops dedicated to the production and transformation of materials, allowing a group of exceptional craftsmen working in ceramics, leather, metal, marble, textiles, and wood to collaborate, experiment, and inspire one another. As a physical representation of the ingenuity and creative drive housed within the walls of Zaventem Ateliers, “Spin Love” asserts their commitment to old world craftsmanship, free thinking, and modern innovation. In conceiving “Spin Love” Jadot aimed to create a work where visionary design and idiosyncratic craftsmanship meets the already collaborative energy, humor and playfulness he had amassed within Zaventem. Each individual element, from the mixed media table tops to the unique ping pong paddles, showcases the height of the artists’ specific expertise. The double sided clover-shaped table top can be divided into two separate tables, each with the ability to be raised to stand upright, acting as a dual-faced screen allowing for four distinct visual options. One bifurcated table half features black and white geometrically patterned leather collages from Niyona, a French custom leather design company. Its corresponding half is composed of precious wood marquetry work by Alexandre Lowie with a steel star detail jewelry designer by Luna Lotta. The second table is composed of an integration of metalwork by Maison Jonckers and textiles from Studio Krjst enclosed within poured resin. On one side each artist’s work is tessellated into a tightly controlled pattern. Flipping the table over reveals an expressive and chaotic assemblage of patterns and textures. The freestanding, movable lamps...

Pierre Chapo "T14C" Dining Table with "D08" Extensions, circa 1964
By Pierre Chapo
Located in New York, NY
"T14C" dining table with "D08" extensions by Pierre Chapo (1927-1986), circa 1964, in elm wood. Great original condition, beautiful vintage patina. Measures: Table: 28.74 H x 72.05 W x 33.86 D inches 73 H x 183 W x 86 D cm Extensions: 15.35 x 33.86 inches 39 x 86 cm The S 14 bench is a versatile piece in the Chapo nomenclature. Initially planned as a seat for the large T 14 table, the S 14 bench borrows its base and pillar legs from the T 14 and its robust look from the S 01 stool. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) Pierre Chapo was first interested in painting, but his encounter with a shipbuilding carpenter in 1947, introduced him to wood and woodworking, and led to architectural studies at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After traveling through Scandinavia, Central America and working for a year in the United States, he returned to Paris and pursued his interest in wood, crafting furniture...

"Swamp Table" by Gaetano Pesce, Multicolor, Wood, Italy 1993
By Gaetano Pesce
Located in New York, NY
During his career, that spans four decades with commissions in architecture, urban planning, interior, exhibition and industrial design, Gaetano Pesce, the architect and designer, has conceived public and private projects in the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia. In all his work, he expresses his guiding principle: that modernism is less a style than a method for interpreting the present and hinting at the future in which individuality is preserved and celebrated. Born in La Spezia, Italy, in 1939, Pesce studied Architecture at the University of Venice between 1958-1963 and was a participant in Gruppo N...
