Osvaldo Mariscottihat als Grafiker, Maler und Bildhauer eine über vier Jahrzehnte währende Karriere hingelegt, und seine ikonischen Bilder sind international bekannt.
Als einer der bedeutendsten Künstler der Gegenwart hat Mariscottis Engagement für das Zusammenspiel von Form und Farbe zu einer kontinuierlichen Erforschung der Wahrnehmung geführt. Er übernimmt die grundlegendsten Elemente der suprematistischen Kunst - die gerade Linie und das Quadrat - eine Wahl, die den Schwerpunkt widerspiegelt, den er auf die vom Menschen geschaffenen Formen legt und nicht auf die in der Natur vorhandenen. Seine Werke sind sehr aussagekräftig und bestehen aus der Zerlegung von Figuren wie dem Rechteck, das dann in seine wesentlichen farbigen Linien auf schwarzem Grund zerlegt wird. Mariscottis Suche stellt ihn in den Kontext des geometrischen Konzeptualismus: jener Denkrichtung, die die Figuration als Malaise betrachtet und die Synthese als Modell sucht. Seine Kunst untersucht die "Nicht-Realität" und zerlegt sie in geometrische Formen, um zur Entwicklung eines neuen Codes zu gelangen.
