He was the son of Johan Matias Ringsten and Augusta Serafina Nisbeth and married to Teckla Maria Dalqvist. Ringsten studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and after his studies was active as a copyist, landscape and genre painter. He participated in exhibitions arranged by the Art Association for Southern Sweden. He was hired as a curator by the National Museum, the Academy of Fine Arts and the Catholic Church in Stockholm. The handsome figuring of the grain is given added movement by the flat cut contiguous veneer moving horizontally across the front of the chest.. The sides also have a flat cut veneer in one piece that was at the intersection of the huge branch or fork in the tree showing the knot and the concentric circles of the grain radiating out from the knot. Chest offers a pedestal top and rests on turned front feet, with diamond-shaped inlaid satinwood key insets. The top and bottom drawers have sculpted fronts.
