Canton Polychrome Porcelain Circular Cup, Period, Mid-19th Century
Located in CRÉTEIL, FR
Lovely polychrome porcelain bowl from Canton. We find on this Canton porcelain the characteristic decoration painted on a white background representing large polylobed medallions or cartridges alternating palace scenes and nature decorations with motifs of birds, plants, flowers, and butterflies.
Period: Mid-19th Century
Dimensions: diameter 20cm
Solid and fairly excavated funds use gold.
The artist painter uses the circular shape of the object to represent the scenes continuously.
Here we find the Chinese characters in a palace, surrounded by friezes of flowers.
The colors remain vivid, especially with light greens and pinks. In the second half of the 19th century, when Japan established itself as a source of artistic inspiration, and the image of China and its inhabitants tarnished, several Chinese porcelain collections...

Antique Thai Hand Woven Rattan Grain Basket with Red Lacquered Border
Located in Yonkers, NY
An antique Thai hand-woven rattan grain basket from the 19th century, with red lacquered rim, tapering lines and rustic character. Created in Thailand during the 19th century, this rice basket charms us with its rustic appeal and contrasting colors. The basket features a circular opening accented with a red lacquered rim complimenting the rattan structure beautifully. The hand woven rattan body showcases tapering lines coming down to rest on a base with red lacquer echoed from the top. With its simple lines, rustic character and nice proportions, this old Thai grain basket from the 19th century will make for a charming addition to any home, placed in a kitchen or in a bedroom where it could be perhaps used as a hamper or a toy storage...

Japanese Temple Buddhist Monk Samurai Juzu Prayer Beads Mala Rosary Necklace
Located in Studio City, CA
A truly magnificent and special work - this beautiful and exceptionally long string of Japanese hand-crafted natural wood (perhaps Rosewood) Buddhist Juzu mala beads. These rosary-type large prayer bead necklaces were used by Buddhist monks in temple prayers/rituals and worn by Samurai as amulets of protection. During the Edo period, Buddhist priests/monks and samurai warriors used to wrap the beads around their bodies and use the beads in their worshipping and meditation ceremonies. After reading the sutra once, one bead would be moved (some sects used them instead of wooden tally counters). It would take a tremendous amount of intense concentration and physical stamina to read the sutra while holding and counting/moving each individual prayer bead as well as a copious amount of time to move all the prayer beads to complete the sutra cycle. We have not come across another set of Juzu beads...

Japanese Antique Pottery Hanging Vase/Edo/1800s/Boat-Shaped Vase
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
This is a black-glazed boat-shaped pottery made in the late Edo period of Japan.
This will be a hanging vase.
Pour water directly into this and decorate the flowers.
Also, perhaps this is a pottery called Seto-yaki.
Seto is an ancient kiln located in Aichi Prefecture.
Various shapes and colors were produced there, and in the late Edo period, dark glazed pottery was also produced.
When a dark brown glaze is applied, the areas with thick glaze look black, and the areas with thin glaze look brown.
I put water directly into this and left it for a day, but there was no water leakage.
I would say it is in very good condition.
Although it is a small item, it has a very strong presence.
It has a glossy and elegant appearance.
There are many types of Seto pottery...
