Luigi Caccia Dominioni Bidone pendant, Azucena, Italy, 1960s

About the Item

Luigi Caccia Dominioni, one of the world’s oldest practicing architects until he died in 2016 aged 103, was according to Pin Up magazine – “the architect’s architect”. Visible in every street corner in Milan and cheerleaded on the pages of Domus, his works evoke Baroque and Milanese tradition, while being totally innovative. In 1947 he co-founded Azucena along with Ignazio Gardella, the Bidone a signature piece from their collection. The Bidone light is designed so that it can be adjusted across several heights. Made from brass and frosted glass, the design is elegant and sleek yet has an understated functional feel.
