American 19th Century Stained-Glass Panel Depicting Sheep-Lambs, Manner Tiffany
Located in Los Angeles, CA
An American 19th Century Stained-Glass Panel depicting sheep/lambs amongst flowers and shrubs, in the manner Louis Comfort Tiffany - Tiffany Studios, within an oak frame. The bottom reads "Born 1872 - Died 1878". No signature or markings found. Circa: 1878. Louis Comfort Tiffany (February 18, 1848 – January 17, 1933) was an American artist and designer who worked in the decorative arts and is best known for his work in stained glass. He is the American artist most associated with the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements. He was affiliated with a prestigious collaborative of designers known as the Associated Artists, which included Lockwood de Forest, Candace Wheeler, and Samuel Colman. Tiffany designed stained glass windows and lamps, glass mosaics, blown glass, ceramics, jewellery, enamels, and metalwork.[2] He was the first design director at his family company, Tiffany & Co., founded by his father Charles Lewis Tiffany. Tiffany started out as a painter, but became interested in glassmaking from about 1875 and worked at several glasshouses in Brooklyn between then and 1878. In 1879 he joined with Candace Wheeler, Samuel Colman, and Lockwood de Forest to form Louis Comfort Tiffany and Associated American Artists. The business was short-lived, lasting only four years. The group made designs for wallpaper, furniture, and textiles. He later opened his own glass factory in Corona, New York, determined to provide designs that improved the quality of contemporary glass. Tiffany's leadership and talent, as well as his father's money and connections, led this business to thrive. Works: The Entrance Hall of the White House in 1882, showing the newly installed Tiffany glass screens The Alhambra in Granada, by Louis Comfort Tiffany In 1881 Tiffany did the interior design of the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut, which still remains, but the new firm's most notable work came in 1882 when President Chester Alan Arthur refused to move into the White House until it had been redecorated. He commissioned Tiffany, who had begun to make a name for himself in New York society for the firm's interior design work, to redo the state rooms, which Arthur found charmless. Tiffany worked on the East Room, the Blue Room, the Red Room, the State Dining Room, and the Entrance Hall, refurnishing, repainting in decorative patterns, installing newly designed mantelpieces, changing to wallpaper with dense patterns, and, of course, adding Tiffany glass to gaslight fixtures and windows and adding an opalescent floor-to-ceiling glass screen in the Entrance Hall. The Tiffany screen...

Chinese Antique Six-Panel Folding Screen with Stained Glass Geometric Motifs
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese antique six-panel folding screen from the early 20th century, with green, blue and yellow stained glass, geometric motifs and wooden panels. Created in China during the first half of the 20th century, this large folding screen features six panels each adorned with a careful arrangement of opaque octagonal motifs surrounded by colorful stained glass with scrolling or textured motifs. The lower section is made of delicately raised panels surrounded by recessed accents. Folding screens likely originate back to the Han Dynasty, circa 200 BC as evidence in tombs shows. The Chinese considered screens as objects of contemplation and a source of spiritual and creative inspiration. The screens were used to protect from drafts, to provide a sense of privacy or to simply partition a room. With its nice proportions and complimenting colors, this Chinese antique stained glass folding screen...

Rare O.B. McClintock Wall Bank Clock, c. 1920
By O.B. McClintock Co.
Located in Hampstead, QC
A rare piece of 20th century Americana that has survived to this day. It harkens back to a time of “Peyton Place” when outdoor bank clocks or clocks atop a lamppost in the town square were commonplace instilling in us a feeling of communal security and good ol’ American values. In 1908, O.B. McClintock opened the O.B. McClintock Co. company to manufacture clocks which he sold to financial institutions all across the United States. According to one newspaper of the period, the Minneapolis Golden Jubilee, “these clocks not only advertise financial institutions in a dignified impressive manner but add to the refinement and culture of the community which they adorn.” The clock presented here is mounted within a dark brown vintage wooden case...

Antique European Mechelen Renaissance Oak Hunt Display Cabinet Stained Glass 90"
Located in Dayton, OH
Monumental Antique Mechelen Renaissance Revival China Hutch, circa 1890s. Made from oak with elaborate figural and floral carved details. Features vibrant original stained glass windows. The buffet or server section of the cabinet has a large table surface, 2 drawers and lower cabinet with two additional drawers and a shelf. The hutch rest upon turned columns and chrysanthemum carved backsplash flanked by acanthus foliate. Includes two interior adjustable shelves and amazing geometric glass doors with a star at the center. The cabinet is ordained with high relief 3/4 French Renaissance figures, Lion heads with brass rings, Cameo panels, Gadrooning, chrysanthemum flowers and pedals. A true work of art that functions well as a bar back, china display cabinet or bookcase. This cabinet is a cut above other Mechelen style cabines. Most are of the less ornate variety and lacking the character of figural and animal carved details. Mechelen, pronounced Malines in France, and also known as Malines or Mechlin in English, is a Dutch-speaking city in the province of Antwerp, Belgium. Mechelen is one of Belgium’s prominent cities of historical art. It was a centre for artistic production during the Northern Renaissance. Anne Boleyn, wife of English King Henry VIII (1504–1536) resided in Mechelen as did Margaret of York, Duchess of Burgundy (1446–1503). In fact, several children who later became queens of European countries had received an education at Margaret of York’s court. In 1572, during the Eighty Years' War, the city was burned and sacked by the Spanish. After this pillaging, the city was rebuilt. It was during this time that the tradition of furniture making began and can still be seen today. Along with furniture, historically famous Mechlinian trades include laken (woollen cloth), tapestries, cordwain, Mechlin lace (precious bobbin lace...
