People Coordinator

Our people are our most important asset, and our People Coordinator plays a critical role in providing assistance with all ‘people’ processes here at 1stdibs. This newly-created role will support with employee onboarding and offboarding, respond to employee questions about payroll and benefits, keep our HR information systems up-to-date, maintain accurate record keeping, and regularly audit compliance with key regulations.

You will be a self-starter who can jump in without being asked, see the big picture but pay close attention to detail, and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.  You will be diligent in your work and have a passion for process. We care about each other and love to laugh so empathy and a sense of humor are a must. This is an integral function within the small but mighty People team and we're looking for a driven, hard-working, hyper-organized individual to round out our team. This role will report in to the People Manager.

What you’ll do

  • Function as a People Team representative by assisting in general HR inquiries, employee relations issues, and assisting in rolling out ‘People’ initiatives
  • Complete I-9 documentation through e-verify and maintains I-9 files
  • Assist with new-employee background checks
  • Prepare new-hire files and onboarding packets
  • Facilitate assigned portion of new hire orientation and any other employee training needs as necessary
  • Conduct follow-up pulse check interviews with new 1stdibs employees
  • Update HRIS database records and process paperwork for new hires, terminations and other status changes
  • Assist in audits of payroll, benefits or other people programs and recommend corrective action
  • Reconcile benefits statements
  • Maintain electronic employee records and keep the People drive organized
  • Assist with the preparation of the performance review process
  • Collect content to publish in the DibsDigest, our weekly employee newsletter
  • Schedule social activities and events to bring our teams together (celebrations, happy hours, etc). Including promotion, setup, and vendor management, if applicable
  • Ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed


What you’ll bring

  • 1+ years of professional experience in a people / human resources focused role
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable balancing multiple tasks at once while staying calm, cool & collected
  • Passionate about providing the best employee experience and are extremely resourceful in your manner of problem-solving
  • Able to get your hands dirty running the day-to-day but have the ability to be strategic when looking for ways to improve the overall People experience
  • Hardworking individual that can assist in the management of a fast-paced office while maintaining a positive, proactive and professional attitude
  • Would rate your positive energy as an 11 out of 10
  • Wants to join a team that is always engaging, fun and challenges you daily
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
