Strategic Account Executive

Our Strategic Account Executives are responsible for growing the annual spend of their assigned book of business, which will consist of 1stdibs’ key design firms across the country.  This role will spend significant time researching and familiarizing themselves with their award-winning firms in order to be a consultative resource available to their clients.  This individual will build relationships with several key personas within their account list including Principal designers, junior designers, design directors, creative leads, and various members of purchasing and procurement teams.  This individual will travel into market at least once a quarter to further their relationships and eliminate barriers to an increased spend through the 1stdibs platform.  This role will require excellent presentation skills as it’s very common for a design firm to invite their point of contact in for a 10+ designer in person meeting that consists of the full spectrum of seniority.

The role is ideal for someone with 5-8+ years of working experience, who is comfortable in a start-up environment – ready to roll up their sleeves, jump in the trenches, and do whatever it takes to succeed. Our ideal candidate will thrive in a constantly changing environment and can grow into other roles as we expand.

 

What you'll do

  • Become deeply engrained in your key account list of 50+ firms
  • Work to map out each firm into key buyer personas so follow up can be individualized
  • Engage in regular contact via phone and email with your assigned accounts to identify who’s in the sourcing and purchasing phases of their project life cycles
  • Work closely with our sources and services team to make sure any issues are surfaced and addressed in a quick manner
  • Begin to uncover and document the org maps for design firms — goal is to identify power users, decision makers, and key influencers
  • Own and works towards an annual quota of GMV spend for your assigned accounts — success will be determined by how much your book of business grows over the course of the year
  • Capture and maintain a prospect’s interest in transacting with 1stdibs by clearly communicating the benefits associated with being member of our new Trade Program
  • Other duties as assigned

 

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 5-8+ years of experience in an outside sales closing role at a SaaS or technology start-up
  • Experience managing a book of 25 to 50 top tier accounts, each of which has a minimum spend of $500k
  • Experience presenting to Director/VP/Principal contacts within industry leading organizations
  • Excellent time management skills + ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to map decision-making processes within a complex organization
  • Timely and thoughtful follow-up to creating trust and strong relationships with your accounts
  • Ability to identify and overcome objections throughout the full sales cycle
  • Passion and interest in luxury design
