Wilhelm Kage, "Farsta" Blue Vase, The Gustavsberg Manufactory, Sweden, 1957

About the Item

Wilhelm Kage, "Farsta" Blue Vase, The Gustavsberg Manufactory, Sweden 1957 Impressed "Farsta" six times to feet, "Gustavsberg G (hand) Studio" Incised "Å", "KÅGE This is a footed vase by Wilhelm Kåge, a master potter at the Gustavsberg Porcelain manufactory in Sweden. The ochre-colored base is coated with a brick-reddish-brown glaze, and the base is carved with a finely scraped-down line pattern. A lees blue glaze is applied over it, and when fired, the glaze turns blue and transparent. The shape of the bowl is a dome-shaped body with an elongated mouth, giving it a stately appearance and presence. The bottom of the vessel is carved with six feet. This vase comes with a wooden box for storing traditional Japanese ceramic pieces. The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
