About the Item

This is a chalice-shaped vase with an oval bowl attached to a one-legged base by Wilhelm Kåge, a master potter at the Gustavsberg Porcelain manufactory in Sweden.
It is painted with green glaze on an ochre-colored base, and the base of the high legs is covered with a thin transparent glaze. Scraped-off patterns are carved on the sides and inside of the bowl. In addition, a line pattern is drawn between them in white glaze.
The chalice-like shape is a standard shape at Kage and is made in both large and small sizes, but this piece is a relatively large size with a large movement on the rim.
The green glaze is rare, as it is applied only on Kage's best pieces. The influence from ancient Chinese bronzes is thought to be present in this piece.
It is in very good condition.
The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
