Set of Four Signed James Mont Black Drink Glasses with Hand Drawn Caricatures

About the Item

This whimsical and sophisticated set of James Mont glasses were realized by James Mont, circa 1960. Realized in translucent glass, these water glasses feature four unique hand drawn cartoons of the designer in caricature. On one of the glasses, he is depicted wielding a hammer, in another holding a cabassa; in the third he's shown speaking into two telephone receivers; and in the fourth he's shown donning a smile looking down at his ascot. He wears a tuxedo in all of the glasses with bow ties (two striped, and two polka dotted). His bald head and pencil mustache clearly identify him as Mr. Mont. All of the glasses offer black enamel rims. Mont's pieces filled the interiors of the "who's who" in midcentury America- from East Coast mafiosos to Hollywood's elite. This rare set of glasses, by one of the most iconic figures in Mid-Century Modern furniture, represents an incredible find for any true collector of the period. The glasses are signed "James Mont" and are in excellent vintage condition. American, circa 1960 Dimensions: 5.5" H, 2.75" D.
