Front End Engineer

We're looking for a talented Front-end Engineer to join our dynamic team and bring fresh ideas and a passion for clean, efficient code. If you're a front-end enthusiast who believes in doing things right, this is the perfect opportunity to make a significant impact! You'll be involved in developing and implementing innovative user-facing products and features, building shared packages, and collaborating with our services team on internal APIs. You'll also have the chance to optimize existing repositories and contribute to our ongoing technical excellence.

What You’ll Do
- Architect sophisticated user interactions for desktop and mobile browsers using React and Relay, leveraging your deep understanding of core client-side technologies.
- Engage with our modern front-end stack, including Node.js, Express, TypeScript, GraphQL, Rspack, modern JavaScript, CSS Modules, and Git (with GitHub).
- Implement universal TypeScript modules designed to optimize performance through server-side rendering.
- Embrace the challenges and opportunities of responsive and adaptive design to create seamless user experiences across all devices.
- Ensure code quality through comprehensive unit and integration testing.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate designs into functional and engaging interfaces.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging front-end technologies, AI/ML integrations, and advocate for their adoption when beneficial.
- Optimize web performance, accessibility, and SEO through best practices and cutting-edge techniques.
Requirements
- A strong commitment to staying at the forefront of contemporary front-end development practices, including TypeScript, ES6+.
- At least 2 years of experience in developing high-traffic websites or complex web applications.
- Proficiency in Node.js.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- A collaborative spirit and the drive to elevate your team members.
- A mindset of intellectual curiosity and the ability to bring thoughtful insights to the table every day.
- Experience developing consumer-facing websites in a professional production environment is highly desirable.
- An appreciation for unique and exceptional items like furniture, art, and jewelry is a definite plus!

Total Compensation Statement
1stDibs views the value of the employees’ compensation package in its totality. The package may comprise base salary, variable compensation (either equity or cash, where applicable), and health and work-life benefits, and is reviewed annually. Ultimately, we'll determine your pay based on your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
