This artwork titled "Landscape XI' c.2000 is an original color etching with aquatint by Hungarian/American artist Theodora Varnay Jones, b.1942. It is hand signed, titled and numbered 18/50 in pencil by the artist. The image (plate mark) size is 14.75 x 17.65 inches, framed size is 28.25 x 30 inches. Custom framed in a silver and brown patina frame, with white matting. Elle est en excellent état. About the artist: Theodora Varnay Jones, printmaker, sculptor, installation and digital artist, lecturer, and teacher, was born in Budapest, Hungary on 26 February 1942. She graduated from the Hámán Kató Leány Gimnázium before beginning her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, Budapest where she earned her B.F.A. and, in 1971, her M.F.A. She moved to the United States in the early 1970s and married Monty Jones on 9 September 1972 in Reno. On 27 September 1984 she became a naturalized citizen of the United States. Her creativity seems unlimited and her work has been featured in exhibitions too numerous to enumerate. She is a member of the KALA Art Gallery in Berkeley, California and teaches classes there. Cette œuvre d'art intitulée "Deux Feuilles II" 1970 est une gravure en couleur avec du carborundum de l'artiste espagnol Antoni Clave 1913-2005. Elle est signée et numérotée 4/80 au crayon par l'artiste. La taille est de 29,85 x 22,5 pouces. Il est en excellent état, les couleurs sont fraîches et vives. À propos de l'artiste : Antoni Clavé est né à Barcelone le 5 avril 1913. À partir de 1926, il suit des cours du soir à l'Escuela de Artes y Oficios "Llotja", où enseignent Félix Mestres, Josep Mongrell et Angel Ferrant. Mongrell a trouvé à Clavé une place d'apprenti peintre en bâtiment en 1927, car Clavé était fasciné par le côté pratique de la peinture et surtout par les matériaux utilisés pour ce travail et voulait apprendre à préparer les peintures. Pendant la guerre civile espagnole, Clavé a travaillé comme dessinateur pour le gouvernement républicain, mais à la fin de la guerre, il s'est enfui en France. Après un internement au camp des Haras à Perpignan, Clavé s'installe à Paris en 1939, dessine des bandes dessinées et travaille comme illustrateur. Au cours des années 1940, la peinture de Clavé a subi l'influence stylistique de Bonnard, Vuillard, Rouault et surtout Picasso, avec qui il a fait connaissance en 1944. À partir de 1946, Clavé réalise de nombreux dessins pour le ballet et le théâtre à Paris, Munich, Londres et New York ; dans les années 1950, il se tourne vers l'illustration de livres. En 1954, Clavé cesse de travailler comme scénographe et illustrateur pour se consacrer entièrement à la peinture, en visitant à nouveau l'Espagne. Ses peintures deviennent plus abstraites et énigmatiques ; inspiré par les textures murales...
