Belge, Français, 1909-1984
Gustave Singier est né à Comines-Warneton, en Belgique, en 1909. Il est actif en France en tant que membre de la nouvelle école parisienne d'abstraction lyrique et du Salon de Mai. Après avoir rencontré le peintre Charles Walch (1896-1948), qui l'encourage et lui montre la liberté d'expression picturale, il participe à partir de 1936 à de nombreux Salons parisiens : Salon des Indépendants, Salon d'Automne, Salon des Tuileries, etc. En 1945, il devient l'un des membres fondateurs du Salon de Mai. Comme d'autres peintres de sa génération, Singier s'est inspiré de Kandinsky, Klee et Mondrian. Il a également enseigné à Paris, à l'Académie Ranson de 1951 à 1954, puis à l'École des beaux-arts de 1967 à 1978. Singier est décédé à Paris en 1984.

Gustave Singier est né en 1909 en Belgique, à Warneton en Flandre. Il a passé son enfance en Belgique occupée par les armées allemandes. Il a commencé à peindre dès l'âge de 14 ans. Il suit les cours de l'école Boulle pendant trois ans puis jusqu'en 1936 il travaille comme architecte d'intérieur et designer de mobilier, en parallèle il peint et dessine.
