Roland Topor Art
Français, 1938-1997
Roland Topor est né à Paris de parents immigrés polonais. Il était illustrateur, peintre, écrivain, poète, réalisateur, chanteur, acteur et cinéaste. En 1962, il crée le Mouvement panique, avec Arrabal, O. Olivier, Jodorowsky et Sternberg, un groupe qui place la confusion, l'humour, la terreur, le danger et l'euphorie au cœur de son mode de vie. Topor a écrit le roman The Tenant (1964), qui a été filmé par Roman Polanski sous le titre The Tenant (1976). Toper est peut-être plus connu pour ses œuvres graphiques à l'humour surréaliste, qui penchent du côté du macabre mêlé au banal. Il a étudié à l'École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Les œuvres de Topor ont été publiées dans des livres, des journaux, des affiches et des films d'animation. Son style dans la littérature, le cinéma, la peinture et le théâtre glisse vers le macabre surréaliste et exprime des exemples de son goût pour la comédie noire.

About the artist.
Coming from a very western tradition in Wyoming, John Maxon developed an expansive view of nature. Moving eventually to the San Francisco Bay area, John's delight in the effects of light and color led him to the decision to become an artist at the young age of 15. His natural ability was encouraged, and at 16 he began figurative art classes with Howard Brodie, the artist well known for his WWII correspondence, drawings and the Watergate trial drawings.
