Holiday House 2008

Mixed Use de Harry Heissmann Inc. à New York, NY

For the inaugural 'Holiday House' for the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in 2008, we designed with a holiday in mind as inspiration and ours was Easter. It really all started with an illustration my friend the late Robert de Michiell did, after we had talked on the phone and discussed the concept. I had told him I ideally wanted a chocolate bunny coming out of an egg as a sculpture and he incorporated it in the sketch of the room. The amazing artists at The Alpha Workshops took the illustration and rendered the bunny in 3D, as a real chocolate bunny would likely not have survived the event.... C.J. Peters had an extraordinary, tall vintage mirrored screen, which we used to bring in the views from the courtyard and light! A slightly curved vintage sofa, antique side tables from Florian Papp, turquoise French metal garden chairs from Magen H Gallery, turquoise ceramic lamps from Christopher Spitzmiller, a huge turquoise mid century glass vase found on a flea market, a French 1950's ceramic table from Studio Van Den Akker and vintage turquoise leather and chrome stools made for an easter egg of a room and when we didn't like an outlet in the baseboard to be visible, it was covered with a tole carrot bunch we found downtown.... And it just so happened that Stark Carpet had a fabulous faux bois runner in perfect colors to go up the stairs. Although this installation happened a long time ago, the photos taken are amongst the best we have of our work thank you Peter Rymwid!
