Family Home de Soucie Horner, Ltd. à Chicago, IL

Old meets new in this landmarked historic cottage in Chicago’s culturally-rich Old Town neighborhood. Originally built in the 1860s, it was completely gutted to welcome natural light and create open, modern-day connections between rooms – and between members of the busy young family that calls this house home. Welcomed by an elegant living room layered with muted blues and grays, it transitions front to back into ever-more colorful spaces – culminating in an inviting kitchen and neighboring family room crisped by navy and enlivened with orange. Living space extends further, courtesy of an outdoor gathering area furnished with indoor-worthy detail. Downstairs, thoughtfully-conceived space will grow with the family’s children. It includes a kids’ lounge area, along with a dedicated room for homework and studies. The two are creatively divided yet visually joined by a two-sided aquarium – an ideal reflection of our clients’ unique interests, and our ability to incorporate those interests into beautifully functional design.
