Hello, Victorian revival! We were enlisted by a young family of four to help undertake a soulless spec home on San Francisco’s top block and unveil its true potential in an exciting way that works for them. A departure from our serene neutral palette into an explosion of color across adult spaces for entertaining and children’s spaces for play included a new outdoor kitchen; a full-scale penthouse bar wrapped in an envelope of pieced leather wallpaper; a children’s playroom equipped with a treehouse and real foraged eucalyptus tree; as well as custom furnishings, custom wall-coverings and contemporary European fixtures throughout. We worked to introduce a different palette for each room and played with the formality of the spaces to cater to how the family wanted to live and feel in each room– a serene oasis in the master bedroom with the right ‘pop’; a dark monochromatic mood for the dining room; upbeat print and color direction for their daughters that inspires creativity… We knew we had to strike functional elements for the family but also wanted to inspire contemporary silhouettes and installations that would impress.
