Underworld, Past- From the series " Past, Now, Future" by Parimah Avani - 2023
Located in Roma, IT
Underworld, Past is a drawing realized by Iranian artist and Poet Parimah Avani in 2023. China ink, acrylic, and mixed media on Japanese Kozo paper with applied Tengujo Kashmir paper and Papyrus, Plettenberg, DE. Exhibited in " Heroine's Journey" 2023, in Gallery hall of German Bank " Sparkasse", Winner of scholarship and art residency "Werkstatt Plettenberg" in DE, 2023. From the series " Past,  Now, Future" in which the central piece "Earth- Now" is in the Municipal collection of Plettenberg, Germany. Hand-signed and dated. The artwork is represented with alchemical, magical, and mythological symbols and signs, through rebellious miniature figures, creatures and animals that shape the whole body of time and three words, here the past - underworld has the shape of the head of a horse, with by metal colors referring to the alchemical process of soul in a minimalistic manner, painting is characterized by expressive brushes. In a fusion of myth and archetypal features, the works aim to transport viewers into the intricate realm of "Heroine's Journey," an exhibition that encapsulates the essence of unity, rebellion and revolutionary figures, transformation, and resistance, and the enduring power of mythological narratives.  Through a combination of limited colors, shapes, and ancient symbolism, these works invite an odyssey that transcends the boundaries of culture, time, and narrative. Drawing inspiration from Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. Avani's works weave together a narrative that celebrates the interconnectedness of all living beings.  Avani employs a chosen palette of alchemical colors: various gold, silver, bronze, tint, and copper, representing metals and planets. Each color carries deep, symbolic significance. Gold symbolizes the golden spirit and enlightenment, while silver connects to the feminine aspect and the moon's goddess associations. Copper represents both women and the essence of love. These colors create a narrative resonating with universal themes of transformation and spirituality, mirroring the elevation of the soul through alchemical symbolism. Parimah Avani, born in 1988 in Tehran, Iran, is a multidisciplinary artist and a recognized figure in contemporary hermetic Persian literature and the avant-garde "Other" movement. Her book, "Magic Verses of Antalus," was a finalist for the prestigious "Shamlou" Award. Her most recent achievement is winning an art competition for a scholarship from Werkstatt Plettenberg in Germany, culminating in a solo exhibition held at the Gallery of the German Bank of Sparkasse. Avani's artistic journey began with travels to China and Russia during her formative years, oriental philosophies, particularly Zen and Buddhism, and folk arts ignited her passion for comparative mythology evident in her archaic style. In 2009, she moved to Rome, Italy to study multimedia art, and gained a Master’s in painting at the Fine Art Academy of Rome. Immersed in cultural parallels between East and West, mythological themes transcend boundaries in art, exploring magic and ancient scripts inspired by the scholarly insights of Frazer and Eliade on rituals. Her anthropological view culminated in a Ph.D. in the history of...

Silvery Song of Resistance - Paint by Parimah Avani - 2023
Located in Roma, IT
Silvery Song of Resistance is realized by Iranian Painter and Poet Parimah Avani in 2023. Sumi, Persian ink, and acrylic on kraft paper. Hand-signed and dated. Excellent conditions. From the series "Resistance and Alchemical Metals" The artwork is realized poeticly, with an exclusive title that refers to the socio-political context, and the application of limited color of metals" various copper, gold, silver, bronze" have metaphorical features of alchemy. In this series artist took positions, and gestures of revolutionary and rebellious bodies on the battlefield of revolution and transformed them dynamically into precious sources of resistance by spiritual transitions of colors akin to alchemy, meat, and blood found their symbolic meaning through colors and expressive brushstrokes, metals here refer to bodies of freedom seekers, shapable, flexible, shiny and a source of strength, that highlights how a body becomes a battlefield, a golden source of sacrifice, a silver font of resistance, copper as blood in fighting for freedom.  What makes this series unique: it is deeply behind the dynamic emotion of each gestural figure, in a minimalistic manner, and the vigorous and unbridled energy of brushstrokes, is raw, spontaneous, and emotionally charged.  Her works in this series challenge oppression and gender-related issues by applying oriental brushstrokes of calligraphy in ink as a primary tool, to fragile subjects.  Parimah Avani, born in 1988 in Tehran, Iran, is a multidisciplinary artist and a recognized figure in contemporary hermetic Persian literature and the avant-garde "Other" movement. Difficult Furniture (toity)
Located in New York, NY
24"x30" oil, graphite on canvas, signed on reverse by the artist. This contemporary abstract painting by New York artist, Mark Masyga is visually laid out with painted lines of color intertwined and layered on top of each other. The neutral warm grey ground is activated by the multiple layers of paths of blues, beige, cream white, dark greys and near blacks, interspersed with fine curved and bent lines of light green, orange, lavender and rose pink. This is an engaging linear abstract painting with an immense visual depth of field. This painting is featured in a solo show released by the Front Room Gallery in New York, entitled, "Charitable Deceptions". In this new body of work, the title “Charitable Deceptions,” refers to a passage written by Gabriel García Márquez in which, “…memory eliminates the bad and magnifies the good.” Mark Masyga ruminates on this concept through his process of addition and subtraction in his compositional constructions. The linear abstract paintings in this exhibition chronicle a passage of time as explored through the artist’s application...
