About the Item
In "Undertow" by Sarah Alexander, vibrant turquoises and blues meander throughout this 30 x 40 x 1.5 inch abstract botanical watercolor on canvas. There is a moving current throughout the painting with curving, floating natural shapes, contrasting with a spiny form in the corner resembling a sea urchin, a cactus, or a burr. Alexander uses these contrasting forms to depict ego vs. flow, and those things in life that disrupt us from moving forward, like depression, addiction, illness, or insecurity and doubt. This painting is sealed with a UV protectant acrylic and has painted sides. Framing is not necessary.
Sarah Alexander is a contemporary mixed media artist with an emphasis on watercolor using unconventional surfaces and techniques. Her work is in private collections and has been shown extensively throughout New England, and abroad. Her work has been published by North Light Books.
