About the Item
Born in Rome, Italy, Emanuel Romano became a painter, illustrator, muralist and teacher in New York City where from 1944 to 1945 he taught at the City College of New York. One of his murals is in the Klondike Building, Welfare Island, New York. During and immediately after World War II, Romano created a series of allegorical works depicting graphic holocaust images that were held closely by the family after his passing. One of these works is in the Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg Florida.
