About the Item
'Male 1540s Fashion Rendition' is an original drawing by Jorge Ruiz-Martinez. The artist works in a pared-down style with a nod to Art Deco fashion images while nevertheless maintaining the characteristics of the era he is representing. Art Deco architecture and graphic design took hold in the United States and Europe during the first part of the 20th century and came to be the iconic style of the metropolis and modernity. While recalling the aesthetic of Art Deco, Ruiz-Martinez's drawings are more stylized and simplified than the detailed and lush fashion images of the Art Deco era.

Jorge Ruiz-Martinez is a Cuban-born artist. He received training in architecture, engineering and the visual arts. He began his career in the furniture industry in Europe and developed a passion for design. The artist has a strong interest in fashion and a desire to bring social issues to life.
