Paul Gattuso.
(Abstraction)

1940, about

$500

About

Paul Gattuso attended the Art Students League and worked primarily in New York City. There is an old address with a Bronx, Grand Concourse address on the reverse of this drawing. Gattuso was a skilled painter and draughtsman. That drawing confidence is evident here in the handing detail on the watercolor ground. This is a mid-century image is ever there was one. It's an abstraction, but the central 'figure' takes on a life of it's own. The dimensions are for the entire sheet; the work is signed in pencil lower right.
