Multi-glazing and repeatedly splashing the painting, Ekaterina's singular technique best represents the depth of the air, fading the further objects and sharpening the edge of the closer ones. Her breathtaking international landscapes are even more intimate when painted large. Working in large scale, Ekaterina directs the viewers' attention to not only the composition of her works, but to the complex textures as well. Stains, splashes, drips and puddles, all are important elements to Ekaterina's paintings, creating more nuanced atmospheres while calling attention to the process of the painting's creation. Hardware brushes, rough textured paper, a spray bottle and plenty of water are the means by which Ekaterina blurs the straight line – so often seen in the real world, but transformed in the artist's eye. Janet Jennings is known for her luminous oil & watercolor paintings. After working for Lawrence Rubin at Knoedler Contemporary Art, Jennings maintained a studio at Waverly Studios in New York City. She began as a Color Field painter, working on canvas and linen. Janet moved to Amagansett, NY in 1981 and switched her focus to landscape painting. Her career path led her to teach at The Parrish Art Museum, Guild Hall & The Victor D’amico Institute of Art. From 1993 to 1998, she was the Chair of the Andy Warhol Visual Arts Preserve Program. Jennings maintains ties to the art community as an educator and curator. She is a member of the East Hampton Arts Council, an advocacy group for performing and visual artists of East Hampton. Ms. Jennings maintains a painting studio in East Hampton and currently teaches oil and watercolor classes. In 1997, she was a founding member of CMEE, The Children’s Museum of the East End. Working with Lee Skolnick and JoAnn Secor, she was an exhibit designer and fabricator for “Time and Place, Light and Space”, the initial installation at Guild Hall, which launched CMEE. She was a lead designer for the permanent exhibition installation of CMEE, located in Bridgehampton, NY. Jennings received her BFA from the University of Dayton and attended The Dayton Art Institute, Antioch College and The Art Students League. Her paintings are in numerous corporate and private collections worldwide. A house terrace overlooks the ocean shore, bathed in fading sunlight that stretches infinitely across the sky. The artwork deliberately shifts the horizon between the diptych, emphasizing the boundless expanse of space. The panels measure 24 inches x 30 inches and 24 inches by 20 inches, respectively.
About the Artist
Artist Zeynep Genc explores the interaction between modern urban landscapes and the transitions of nature in her paintings. Her subjects center around Northeastern American settings, themes related to her profession, and experiences from her travels to different countries. "As an interior architect and industrial designer, my selective perception influences how I experience the surroundings and find beauty in the synchronicity of architectural and natural elements," says Zeynep. Originally from Eskisehir, Turkey, her career spanned more than 30, during which she taught interior design at Bilkent University and Middle East Technical University, Ankara. She relocated to New Jersey in 2015 and has been painting ever since. Zeynep paints in the corner of her well-lit and organized living room, listening to Italian baroque music and enjoying a cup of coffee. She spends her summers in Bodrum, Turkey, where her house sits right next to the beautiful Aegean Sea. When not creating art, she frequents museums and galleries, prepares healthy Mediterranean meals, and enjoys quality time with her family.
