This exquisite set of four miniature watercolors by British artist Jack Grunwell showcases well-loved and historic British landmarks, rendered in the artist’s distinctive soft-focus style. Each painting captures a unique location:
Blaise Hamlet, Pump Cottage – A picturesque depiction of the Grade I listed Blaise Hamlet in Henbury, Bristol, built around 1811 to house retired employees of banker John Scandrett Harford. The thatched roof cottages and central sundial make it a rare surviving example of a planned picturesque hamlet.
St Michael and All Angels, Stoke Gifford – Depicted here in a 1991-dated painting, this parish church is a notable example of traditional English village churches with a history dating back to the 14th century, surrounded by lush greenery and visitors.
St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Lewins Mead – Once a medieval monastery and later a hospital and almshouse, this half-timbered landmark in Bristol offers rich architectural interest and a deep sense of local history.
