Title: Set of Four Miniature Watercolors of Bath Abbey and Pulteney Bridge by Jack Grunwell, 20th century British artist Medium: Watercolor on thin card, unframed Measurements (each): Approx. between: 2.75 inches (height) x 3.5 inches (width) and 2.5 inches (height) x 3.75 inches (width) Condition: Very good and highly presentable Provenance: From a large private collection of this artists work in Bristol, England. Description: This stunning set of four miniature watercolors by Jack Grunwell captures the historic elegance of Bath, Somerset, a UNESCO World Heritage City renowned for its Georgian architecture and Roman roots. Grunwell’s delicate, atmospheric brushwork brings to life two of the city’s most celebrated landmarks: 1–2. Bath Abbey – Depicted from multiple angles, Bath Abbey is a magnificent example of Perpendicular Gothic architecture, originally founded in the 7th century and rebuilt in the 16th. Its soaring windows and intricate stonework are rendered here with reverence and softness, offering both a distant and more intimate view. 3–4. Pulteney Bridge and Weir – Among the world’s most beautiful bridges, this 18th-century structure was designed by Robert Adam and uniquely features shops built across its span. Grunwell presents two complementary perspectives: one focusing on the weir’s dramatic crescent form, and another from the riverside capturing the bridge’s classical façade and historic urban context. Together, these miniatures celebrate the grandeur and grace of Bath’s cityscape, making them perfect for lovers of English heritage, architectural art, and romantic urban vistas. Ideal for individual framing or display as a cohesive group.
