This rare and elegant vertical trio by Jack Grunwell brings together three distinct places of worship in one beautifully unified watercolour: Frenchay Church, the Quaker Meeting House, and the Unitarian Chapel.
At the top, Frenchay Church stands gracefully among trees, its tall spire and Georgian surroundings evoking the quiet charm of this South Gloucestershire village. The church is a key local landmark, originally built in the early 19th century.
In the centre, Grunwell captures the Quaker Meeting House, a two-storey structure painted with wonderful period detail. Figures in traditional attire and a man on horseback add to the sense of quiet dignity and history associated with the Quaker movement.
