He was made Knight of the Legion of Honor on April 30 , 1836. Author of numerous paintings, pastel drawings and watercolors, Jules Coignet also worked as a portrait painter. As a lithographer , he has also engraved and published several series of prints of his composition as well as other artists. In 1834 and 1845 , he organized two public sales of his production, highly appreciated by art lovers. After his death, his workshop was dispersed in public sale on April 8 , 1861.
