About the Item
Bruno was born in 1888 in Bruenn, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He was the youngest son of a well-to-do family of textile manufacturers.
Bruno was a delicate child, but he showed very early great talents for the Arts. He was quite outstanding on the violin as well as showing great ability with pencil and brushes. For his artistic studies he was sent to Vienna - the capital and intellectual hub of the Empire. It was only there that he decided on the paintbrush in favour of the violin. In his own words he preferred to create his own images, rather than relate those of other composers.
Bruno was lucky to join a class under the direction of a most famous artist, Claude Monet, now recognised as a father of "Impressionism".
This piece was created using pencil on paper and is in a wooden gilt frame under glass.
