This pencil drawing by master draughtsman Edward Laning has religious over tones. Perhaps it's a study for a deposition. There are male figures, both nude and clothed, one on a ladder, and at the lower left a figure seems to be carrying something that could be a body. It's that man who is drawn again, much larger, at the center of the sheet.
Signed and dated in pencil. Dimensions are for the sheet.
