About the Item

This framed 23.5" x 19.5" drawing of a seated female nude depicts the figure in a frontal pose leaning forward with one leg raised and elbow placed on her kneecap. Her head rests in the crook of her arm while her gaze is cast downward. The drawing is with conte crayon on cream colored paper. The drawing is framed behind glass with a double mat in a black frame with a decorative edge. John Nathaniel Fenton (1929-1977) was a 20th century American painter/printmaker who studied at the Art Students League, New York, and at Atelier 17, Paris. He also studied under, and worked with, Federico Castellon and Samuel Adler. During his career Fenton had over a half-dozen one-man shows in New York City. He exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Chicago Art Institute Annual, Butler Art Institute Annual, National Academy of Design, Audubon Artists, American Academy of Arts and Letters Annual; Wesleyan University, and Pennsylvania State University. His work is in the permanent collections of the Pennsylvania State University Museum, Suffolk Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, and others. In 1958 Fenton won awards from both the National Academy of Design and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Among his other honors are a Purchase Prize from the New School Graphics Annual and an Edition Purchase from Pratt Institute.

'Dancer in Seated Gesture 2, ' by James Cobb, Chalk and Conté on Paper, 2021
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This 11.25 x 15.25 work on paper features a lone, seated, female dancer viewed from the back. The figure is twisting toward the viewer as she begins to look over her right shoulder. Her legs are pulled toward her body with the left leg crossed over the right. The isolation of the seated figure within the ground of the page lends a vulnerable quality to the work. The 16 x 20 dark brown mat has a window size of 11.25 x 15.25. Bio: Jim Cobb, until recently was hanging his work on Canyon Rd in Santa Fe, New Mexico. One-man shows have been hosted in Taos, New Mexico, Norman, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. When the Oklahoma Art...

'Seated Female Nude, ' by Paul Wingo, Charcoal/Conte Drawing
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This beautiful framed black and white large scale study of a young female model seated looking away from the viewer, 'Seated Female Nude' captures and embraces the human form. Wingo approaches the nude figure with energetic line and play of light and shadow in a monochromatic palette. " I have been an Artist for many years. I received my Masters in Fine Art from Wichita State University, in Wichita, Kansas. I have taught art for many years. My work is intentionally loose in rendering, the purpose is to engage the memory of the viewer. I believe that the Artist should lead the viewer to make conclusions of their own. At a distance I have been told that my work appears photographic, yet, upon closer examination the viewer is often surprised to find how much detail their minds-eye has added to the image. I currently reside in Norwalk, Connecticut." -- Paul Wingo
