British-born, New Jersey-based, George Drittler was primarily know for landscapes. In this still life that expansive approach serves him well. Richly drawn, with pottery, books and a parrot (I think), he's given the scene a foreground, middle ground, and distance, exactly as he would in a mountain view.
The dimensions, 14 x 11 inches, refer to the size of the sheet. it is signed and dated in ink, lower right.
