Jordi Curós Ventura was born in Olot (Girona) in 1930 and passed away in 2017. He trained at the Escola d’Arts i Oficis in his hometown and later in Paris thanks to a scholarship from the Institut Français. He was a prominent figure in 20th-century Catalan painting. His artistic path evolved from expressionism and figuration to abstract informalism, eventually returning to a vibrant and dynamic figurative language. He regularly exhibited at Sala Parés in Barcelona and was awarded the prestigious Ynglada-Guillot Drawing Prize in 1967. His works are held in major public collections such as the MACBA and the Olot Museum.
