"My Falling Flowers series of mixed media paintings aims to express love and loss. It’s meant to convey a romantic nostalgia for the botanical world as it transforms into otherness. Its wonder and beauty is enchanting even as it breaks down and adapts. My paintings depict my fantasy of a gradual transformation and longing. A sort of in-betweenness as that’s the best we can hope for."
About the Artist:
Born in NY, Kari Souders has been an abstract painter for over 40 years. She received her BFA from Syracuse University and MFA from the University of Maryland on a full teaching scholarship. Kari has taught as an adjunct teacher at institutions such as Drexel University, Trenton State College, and Hussian College. Her work has been exhibited and is in public and private collections around the country.
