About the Artist
Matthew Frederick lived on an Arabian horse ranch with his partner for 17 years, raising and breeding award-winning show horses. It was there, in the barn, where he dedicated himself to painting. Matthew received his art degree in the ;80s, but went on to pursue a career in landscape design. After many years in the field, he burned out and felt a rekindling desire to paint. Matthew;s work is a backlash to the traditionally serious nature of the landscape genre. His work presents nature and structure with a delightful whimsy that reminds the viewer to turn their head and look again the next time they pass a familiar place that has lost its allure.
