About the Item

This is a Confidential Autograph Letter Signed by the Italian editor, Valentino Bompiani (Ascoli Piceno, 1898 - Milan, 1992) to an unknown recipient. Undated. Around 1930s. In Italian. One page-single-sided. On letterhead paper "Valentino Bmpiani and C. S. A." " Editori dell'Almanacco Letterario". In very good conditions, except minor aging signs. Completely readable. Very intimate letter, in which Bompiani reveals the precarious health state of his father and asks for a diagnosis. The background: It is 1929. After having been Arnoldo Mondadori's secretary and director of Unitas, Valentino Bompiani founded his publishing house, famus for the "Books chosen to serve the panorama of our time". The headquarters are in Milan, in via Durini 24. The series gives voice to the most diverse ideologies, starting with the Americans Ford and Roosevelt to get to Hitler: in Private Life (1973) Bompiani recalls that it was a Jewish professor, Angelo Treves, who proposed him to translate Mein Kampf with this motivation: " We must make known who Hitler is. " Moreover, in 1932 the publisher had published Theodor Heuss's Hitler, a staunch opponent of Nazism and the first president of postwar Germany. After promoting the almanacs of the Mondadori and Unitas publishing houses, Bompiani started his own literary Almanac: the first series came out from 1930 to 1942 in the form of an annual publication dedicated to current cultural themes. In the editorial committee with Valentino Bompiani there are Cesare Zavattini, Bruno Munari, Ugo Dèttore and many others among the most significant literary voices of that time.

Ancient Document of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany Leopold II, Italy
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. The ancient, original document of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany was framed, in recent times, by a skilled Florentine master craftsman who used a frame in precious wood and painted gold. The "Notification" was a public notice issued by the authority to bring to the attention of the population or of the institutions or persons concerned a legislative situation, an administrative act, or a declaration of intent by the authority itself. In 1838 (the year of our document) Italy, still divided into Kingdoms, States, Ducats, was pervaded by a certain form of reformism; the different dukes, princes, etc. flaunting modernism, various programs begin to develop the economy, make the administration efficient, change some laws, intervene in the territory with infrastructures, such as roads, canals, and railways. For this reason, more professionalism, experience, and technical preparation were required for all operators who had to contribute to this change. In the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, the Grand Duke Leopold II...
