About the Item
In 2022 Andy Warhol’s Shot Sage Marilyn was sold for $195 million, making this iconic portrait of Marilyn Monroe the most expensive work by a U.S. artist ever sold at auction.
Warhol used a promotional photo taken by Eugene Kornman in 1953 for her film Niagara. Warhol acquired the stunning publicity shot less than 24 hours after her untimely death. He cropped the original 10” by 8” studio negative to come up with a square format.
We are showing here the original photograph, and Warhol’s actual crop mark. Using these same crop marks, we are proud to present a limited-edition series of fine art prints, taken directly from the high-resolution image stored on Globe Photos' original asset bank.
The file was only recently discovered, and this marks the first time that museum-quality prints have ever been offered.
