Georges Dambier, l'un des premiers photographes de mode à sortir les mannequins du studio pour les emmener dans la rue, a capturé les plus belles femmes de son époque, dont Brigitte Bardot et Suzy Parker. Rejetant la technique standard qui consiste à photographier des mannequins sans émotion, Dambier capture ses mannequins avec un regard ambivalent vis-à-vis de leurs vêtements et de l'appareil photo, mais plutôt en riant, en profitant de lieux exotiques et en se promenant en voiture ou en bateau. Au cours de ses 20 années de plus grande productivité (1960-1980), il a travaillé pour le magazine Elle et a lancé deux publications importantes, Twenty et V.S.D.
