About the Item
Hand Signed by Lynn Goldsmith Limited Edition of 20 The lens of a camera is like a musical instrument. The photo it captures sings as much as the note of a song. It is the photographer who understands how to perform the music of that image, its emotional intensity and touch of the heart, revealing subject as well as the mirror of who snaps the shutter.
Lynn Goldsmith is an artist equal in respect to the legends she has captured on camera. She understands the rhythm and melody of a photograph, the ability to stop time and allow us to savour the moment, seeing ourselves within her frame, along with the layer of personality she reveals in her subjects.
Her images are included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, among others. She has won a Lucie Award and honours from World Press Photo, as well as a Lifetime Achievement honour from the Professional Photographers of America. She is also a performance artist, songwriter, videographer, and a strong vocal proponent for the rights of all artists to be compensated for their work.

Lynn Goldsmith
Lynn Goldsmith has documented over five decades of American culture, capturing stars from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to David Bowie, Blondie and Iggy Pop. Taking advantage of the close access granted to acts in the 60s and 70s, she created insightful, candid shots that delved below the of rock and roll. Goldsmith has a particularly close working relationship with Patti Smith who she photographed for the cover of her legendary Easter album in 1977. The award-winning photographer has had 12 best-selling books of her work published; she also works as a documentary filmmaker and a singer and songwriter (under the pseudonym Will Powers). Goldsmith’s work is held in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Polaroid Collection, the Museum Of Modern Art, the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Photography, and the permanent collection of Museum Folkwang.

Balcon Con Vista
By Steve Schlackman
Located in New York, NY
This digital print is part of a limited edition set.
Steve Schlackman is a lawyer by profession and a photographer by choice. Fascinated by the magical world of photography since his youth, he honed this skill over time, meticulously pouring over all things photographic, technical and creative alike, with unstoppable enthusiasm. Steve’s passion for taking photographs was ignited early on, during a study-abroad trip to Paris, where he immersed himself in all things art historical. Diligence, a strong trait Schlackman is known for, paid off, and after daily meanderings at the Louvre, a great love for art emerged along with hundreds of photographs. These pictures proved to be early tributes to the urban landscape, and although they didn’t amount to full-on series, a seed was planted.
The omnipresent tension between the poor neighborhoods of the Cuban capital, as a result of political dictatorship, and the rich Afro-Cuban cultural roots of their inhabitants, whose wealth is represented by their music and feelings, is physically visible in Steve’s use of high contrast, a metaphoric touch on the subject of the light and darkness of the Afro-Cuban heritage. Although intentionally apolitical, the pictures speak volumes about the Cuban status quo and, appropriately, the eternal joy of living despite socio-political hardship.
Play, in and of itself a mode to survive the harsh reality, represents another subject Steve is keen on capturing. Whether it is adults playing dominoes...
