Disappeared Rome is an original silver print on Baryta paper. The photographer is unknown.
cm 17 x 22.5. In excellent codnition.
This view was taken from the top of the second level of the Trajan's Market exedra, pointing to the Vittoriano monument, which at the time, is still not completed.
The still-intact buildings at the opposite of Trajan's Market, providing us with a clear image of how this neighborhood was, before the demolitions started from 1924 and ended in 1932 with the inauguration of the Via dei Fori Imperiali (at the time it was called Via dell'Impero), commissioned by Mussolini. The Trajan's Forum and the columns of the Basilica Ulpia are visible in an aerial view.
It is very interesting to notice the scaffolding still on the Vittoriano, the begging of the demolition works in the closer building to the modern Piazza Venezia and enlarging, the liquidation signs of the shops that will be demolished.
