About the Item
The Virgin Suicides is an original artwork realized by the Italian artist and photographer Angelo Cricchi in 2010. Original digital photograph on paper.
Hand-signed, dated, and numbered by the artist on the back. The artist's stamp is present on the back as well. Edition of 5 unique specimens.
This artwork is one of the photographs of the series Gloomy Sunday realized by the artist in the 2000s.
The artwork represents a garden in front of a building where several women are committing suicide. The photograph, realized in only 5 specimens, captures a moment from the novel The Suicide Virgins by Jeffrey Kent Eugenides, published in 1993. The protagonists of the book are a group of young girls, the Lisbon sisters. They are surrounded by an aura of mystery and, after only one year, they all committ suicide.
