ARNO BANI
ARNO BANI "Blue Eyed Michael Jackson '', 1999

2019

About the Item

Limited edition 5 on 9 , black wood frame and museum glass. signed and numbered on the print + certificate of authenticity More than photos, it’s a story ... » In 1999, Michael Jackson is in his hotel room in London while he falls in love for a series of fashion pictures in Sunday Times magazine. He asks to meet the creator of these pictures, a 23 years old French fashion photographer, called Arno BANI. Arno BANI travels to New York to meet the pop star. Michael Jackson asks Arno something more than taking his picture, he wants him to think of his total look for ten upcoming years and to show him his suggestions later. After that, they had several creative appointments going in New York during three months. Arno prepares his team, composed by stylists: Maida Grégrory Boina, Jérôme Dreyfuss, make up artist Topolino and hairdressers Seb Bascle, Frédérique Lorca, Daniel Adric, Gilles Quemoun. An appointment got fixed for a three days photo shooting in Malakoff, suburb of Paris. Huge cinema saloons got privatized and equipped for shootings. These photos that were supposed to make the album cover of INVINCIBLE got blocked by Michael Jackson’s publishing house (record Co) because of some conflicts with him. During 10 years and because of the contract, neither M.J nor Arno BANI weren’t authorized to show their work, as the pictures belonged to the record company (producer of the photo shootings). Ten years later, when Michael Jackson died, the photographer was finally allowed to present their joint work with Michael Jackson.

GIULIANO BEKOR - Butterfly or Breast
By Giuliano Bekor
Located in PARIS, FR
Giuliano has made an iconic name for himself in the world of photography since launching his commercial career in New York City shooting beauty, fashion and entertainment campaigns for premiere ad agencies and the covers of global magazines. Digging deep into his subject to unearth their inherent strengths and vulnerabilities, Giuliano creates images that evoke drama and sensuality, always staying true to his unique vision. By mixing classical elements with his unparalleled and boundless imagination about modern culture, Giuliano incorporates unconventional lighting techniques in his large format visual style that result in images that force the viewer to reinterpret how they see photographs. The images evoke an emotionally raw, dramatic and glamorous style. Each work presents a narrative that takes the audience to a different dimension; one that is dangerous, addicting and often, taboo. A breathtaking melange of human forms rendered abstract with highly saturated colors, lashings of light, extreme textures and bold silhouettes. Giuliano has recently taken his photo virtuosity over to the world of fine art, creating and producing his own privately conceived shoots, while consistently building a collection of mesmerizing photographs. His 2015 participation in Salone del Mobile in Milan solidified Guliano’s reputation as an “art world favorite” Since then, galleries in Athens, Paris, New York and Los Angeles have hosted solo shows of his series/work. Giuliano will take what you need...

Limited Edition Series Photograph. Black and White Photography by Cuban Photographer René Peña, Self Portrait René Peña (Rene de Jesus Pena Gonzalez) is a self-taught photographer born in Havana, Cuba in 1957. His photography is characterized by stark contrasts, between black and white, subject and background, subject and object. His work often focuses on the duality between human inability to escape institutionalization and human desire for individualism. His interest in contrast is also reflected in his place of residence: Peña currently inhabits the Cerro neighborhood of Cuba which is home to a mostly poor African-Caribbean population, despite having been an enclave of Havana's richest families in the 19th century. René Peña graduated from the Higher pedagogic Institute of Foreign Languages, University of Havana with a specialization in English in 1983. In the late 1980s he entered the national world of photography and since 1990 became leader of the new trends of Cuban photography, first by handling interiors and domestic situations in modern-day Cuba and later making studies of his own body in aspects such as negritude, sexual ambiguity and the influence of consumerism through self-portraits. He conceives his series on the basis of a conceptual, formal and structurally different analysis of all the parameters established up to the present, going from a brutal expressionism to a distinct homoeroticism, with strong mystic elements, trends from experimental painting, and a certain theatrical dramatization. He has had important solo shows and participated in group exhibitions in Cuba, the United States, Venezuela, Canada, France and Germany. His work is part of important collections, not only national but also at world level, such as the National Museum of Fine Arts, Cuba; the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba; Reinhard Schultz Collection, Germany; photographic archive Tuscany, Italy; Southeast Museum of Photography, Daytona, USA; Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, USA; collection of the province of Hainuat, Belgium; and Lehigh University Pennsylvania...
