About the Item

Untitled Flower # 22 Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Matte Paper with Epson archival quality ink Edition of 25 Available sizes: 11" x 14” 20" x 24” 30" x 30” 30" x 40” 40" x 40" 48" x 48” 48" x 60” 60" x 60” I began using a scanner as a camera in 1997 and began this botanical series in this series in 2001. Using the scanner as the camera, is a rediscovery of image making. It's reminiscent or mirrors, in both process and aesthetics, the historic images of those first photograms and cyanotypes. This photographic process has grown in use over the past decade and a half and has been dubbed “scanography”. Its most prevalent use is in the recording of botanical objects, which to me is not surprising. For some primordial reason when a new image making process or technique is created we innocently throw nature onto its surface, as some kind of ongoing test. Perhaps looking to see if it can match our own perceptual abilities and/or move beyond it. Scanography, to my estimation has come the closest to fulfilling this goal. This photograph will be printed once payment has been received and will ship directly from the printer the artist works with. Your certificate of authenticity will be shipped separately from your print and in most cases will ship directly from the gallery. The Gallery is more than happy to provide clients with the next available edition number, however, the Gallery can only guarantee the specific edition number the client will receive once payment has been received.

Flower Child II, Flower, Color Photograph, Limited Edition, Floral, Botanical
By Rebecca Swanson
Located in Riverdale, NY
Rebecca Swanson, Flower Child II, Limited Edition Photograph, 15x15. It is available with a plexifacemount frame or white frame (allow 3-4 weeks). This stunning image is filled fushia and a vibrant yellow color. This is an edition of 15. Also available in 30x30. Rebecca Swanson’s work is inspired from her childhood in Ohio, growing up with her mother, an avid gardener, and her grandmother, an accomplished china painter. Her work is cultivated by the natural world, with its universal fragility and beauty we share with all plants and flowers. She “paints” with her camera, blending the abstract forms of nature with subtle colors to build intimate portraits of perfect, individual blooms. Her utopia is New York City with its parks, waterfronts, and botanical gardens. Rebecca studied drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture at the Cleveland Institute of Art and moved to New York to work as a textile designer. Rebecca has been exhibiting since 1995 in renown locations including the New York City Leica Gallery. Her photographs can be found in corporate collections including Banana Republic, St. Regis, Marriott and Omni hotels and in hospitals throughout the country. She has photographed gardens for Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project. Private collectors include Ina Garten...

Lightjet Print. Lisa Creagh graduated from Goldsmiths in 1994, and more recently, with a Masters in Photography from Brighton University. Between 1997 and 2001 she lived and worked as an artist in New York, teaching digital imaging and curating exhibitions. Upon her return she founded The Brighton Photo Fringe in 2003, a network of photographers, still running in conjunction with the Brighton Photo Biennial. As a producer and curator she has delivered large-scale photographic projects for international artists and delivered talks at various colleges. Prior to her MA she was awarded two Arts Council England Individual Artists Awards. Her current ongoing project, ‘The Instant Garden’ was begun in 2008 and is inspired by Dutch Flower paintings...
