'Rio Aerial' by Tony Kelly depicts the beach of Rio de Janeiro from a bird' s-eye view. The crystal green water shines brightly next to the yellow sand. Bathing people and colorful parasols cover the beach. The piece is almost abstract without losing the sense of summer at the ocean.
Tony Kelly is one of the most influential fine art photographers of our time. He plays with humor and provocation, and although highly polished, his work is playfully subversive, which forces you to stop and think, inviting us to venture beneath the glossy veneer and confront stereotypes, taboos, and role reversals. Kelly was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1975. He cut his teeth as a photojournalist, capturing the burgeoning celebrity culture in a city embracing newfound wealth. His voracious appetite for blue skies and sun-drenched panoramas drew him to Barcelona, where he embraced the "street voyeur" within. His quirky spin on daily life and the cultural idiosyncrasies surrounding him quickly became his distinctive signature style.
