About the Item

I was born in Martínez, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on March 16, 1971. I am the Sun in Pisces, the Moon in Scorpio and ascendant in Cancer. Younger daughter. Lover of family life and animals. My primary studies begin in a nun's college for young ladies. I never adjust and in 6th grade I ask my parents to move me to a coeducational school across the street from my house. I finish high school there, and start studying Advertising at the Foundation for Higher Studies in Commercial Sciences. In January 1992 my father died in our house in a tragic event. We moved with my sister and my mother to an apartment. That same year I began to work in different activities related to Advertising. I get a job in an Advertising agency and work in agencies for the next ten years. In the meantime, I buy myself my first professional camera. I study black and white photography, and camera management with Fernando González Casanuevas. I leave agencies forever to dedicate myself professionally to advertising photography. I work in a major studio, incorporating the professional use of studio lighting and film development. I do a color photography workshop with Alberto Goldestein. I open a photography studio. Study with Marcos López and the possibility of doing a workshop with Humberto Rivas. I discover photography as a means of expression. The work in progress of Grandes Mujeres begins. I did my first solo show in 2004: Great Women photographic portraits of older women in their daily surroundings, curated by Juan Travnik, March 2004, Photo Gallery of the San Martín Theater. Before the show ends, I get pregnant with twins. And at the beginning of December 2004, Pedro and Félix were born. At the age of 3 he presented Almas Gemelas photographic portraits and documentary film of twin brothers and sisters of all ages curated by Clelia Taricco, 2007 at the Recoleta Cultural Center. During the following years, I visit a town called Lima weekly, located 100 kilometers from the city of Buenos Aires, and where one of the most important nuclear power plants in the country is built. My children were between 4 and 5 years old, immersed in a childhood world full of fictions and fantasies that lead me to my own childhood. Surreal images inspired by people's stories and their own fantasies. I present Lima, kilometer 100 at the Recoleta Cultural Center, 2010. I am lucky to meet Gustavo Santaolalla, who writes and publishes the book with his Retina imprint. After two years I work, this time, on my own story. I narrate my father's death in dialogue with religious beliefs. I rescue original slides of my father intervened by biblical passages in large images, experimental videos and small sculptures. During the next 4 years he developed an ambitious project: Photographing portraits, and recording in a documentary film the most important plastic and visual artists in the country, over 65 years old in the country and abroad. Presents Teachers, the forest and the tree , 112 portraits and documentary film at the National Museum of Fine Arts, 2016. Director: Andrés Duprat. Since 2016 I have been working on the Argentina Afro project .Thanks to the support of the Foreign Ministry and the embassies, during 2019 I presented videos, installations and images in South Africa, Mozambique and Nigeria. I am currently working on this project.

Man Walking Past Parking Lot - Classic car, Cadillac, Street photography
By Michael Ormerod
Located in Brighton, GB
Edition of 10. Black & White print on Hahnemuehle Paper. The body of work, States of America, is the photographic legacy of one of the UK’s leading photographic talents whose untimely death in 1991 ended prematurely the highly promising career of a distinctive and powerful photographic voice. Michael Ormerod was born in Cheshire in 1947. He lived in Newcastle, but spent many years travelling America. Fascinated by the American image, and following in the footsteps of Robert Frank, Ormerod took to the American West to find a washed out dream of capitalism. His images capture a strange juxtaposition of an American beauty tainted by a hidden sense of menace and corruption. The photographs are understated, but show an unseen America, where the industrial heartland is decaying, highways stand empty and towns are deserted. The subjects of Ormerod’s work are the disenfranchised. A teenager cycles through her neighbourhood wearing a Halloween-style hockey mask, a Native American man stands in a graveyard, their expressions are unreadable. The work subverts traditional American icons. A white picket fence is staved in, a huge billboard for Miss Teen Dakota USA stands next to an empty highway. Inverting the famous Hollywood sign, Ormerod photographs a Texaco sign...
