This series often features a supermodel, known as Triffie, in vibrant swimwear settings. One of the most iconic images shows her holding two large tuna fish for the V de V swimsuit campaign, captured in vivid surroundings on Isla Meralda. Lorieux himself cites this as one of his most memorable and emblematic photographs from the True Blue exhibition, encapsulating his “vivid blue of sky and deep blue of sea” theme.
Gracing models in tropical landscapes, the shot balances flamboyant fashion imagery with a sense of irony, indulgence, and high color contrast that remains hallmark to Lorieux’s legacy.
Jean-Daniel Lorieux is one of the most famous French fashion photographers of the 20th century. He was born in 1937 in Paris into a family of industrialists. Fleeing from the rigors of Jesuit education, he took refuge in the theater and attended René Simon’s drama lessons.
