About the Item

Described by New York Magazine's The Cut as their "backstage photographer extraordinaire," Nordeman was dispatched to photograph fashion weeks in New York, Milan, and Paris during September 2014. During three intense weeks - and through more than 100 shows - his photographs, which Instagram described on their blog, as "reminiscent of Martin Parr and Guy Bourdin," documented the high-paced chaos of all that surrounds the catwalks. His images are comprised of surprising moments and juxtapositions and are filled with color. Nordeman's unique point of view, characterized by National Geographic senior picture editor Sadie Quarrier, as "delightful, bold and unexpected," provided his audience - many of whom follow his work on his Instagram feed - with a fresh perspective on the world of fashion. "Photography for me is about discovery and appreciation," states Nordeman. "It is a way of probing the world, and making pictures to satisfy my curiosity." Landon Nordeman (born 1974, NYC) has photographed around the world for fine art projects as well as commercial clients. American Photography, Communication Arts, Pictures of the Year International, The PDN Photo Annual, The Best of Photojournalism, The Center for Documentary Studies, PDN's 30, The Society for Publication Design and The James Beard Foundation have all commended his work. Nordeman's photographs have been exhibited at The Howard Greenberg Gallery in NYC, The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing among other venues, are in significant private collections and that of The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and The Columbus Museum of Art. His editorial client list includes The New Yorker, New York Magazine, ESPN The Magazine, and Vogue.

Andy Warhol, Photograph of Diana Vreeland and Fred Hughes
By Andy Warhol
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
As Editor-in-Chief, Diana Vreeland brought Vogue to the forefront of international fashion magazines. Richard Avedon said of Vreeland at her memorial, “Diana lived for imagination ruled by discipline, and created a totally new profession. Vreeland invented the fashion editor.” Photographers such as Irving Penn, Franco Rubartelli, David Bailey, Patrick Litchfield, Cecil Beaton, and Richard Avedon contributed some of their landmark pieces to the magazine. As one of the greatest fashion icons in history, Diana Vreeland had many of her own thoughts on fashion. She says, “Fashion is a part of the daily air and it changes all the time, with all the events. You can even see the approaching of a revolution in clothes. You can see and feel everything in clothes.”  Fred Hughes...
